have many questions about soft wax verses hard wax. From practice,
personal preference plays the biggest role in the results and experience
of the client. Many answers to the common questions can sway back and
forth depending on the professional performing the waxing service.
Technique and what the individual professional are most comfortable
with will have the largest impact on most questions’ clients have. 
Soft
wax is done with paper or muslin strips, and hard wax is removed
without strips. In general, hard wax is used to remove hair in the
bikini, underarm and face area; soft wax is used on larger areas of the
body such as the leg or armpit. Soft wax grabs fine hairs perfectly,
working better on large areas of the body than hard wax. Unlike hard
wax, soft wax cannot be applied to the same spot twice because it
removes layers of dead skin. ... Less painful for most people, soft wax
is perfect for extra sensitive areas such as the armpits or a Brazilian
wax.
Is hard wax less painful? Traditional
thought is that hard wax is less painful on the face than soft wax.
Hard wax can only be applied in small areas or it will break - it is not
efficient to use on larger areas of the body like legs. Hard wax leaves
no sticky residue. It is much easier to clean up.
Can I make my waxing less painful?
There
are a few tips that a client can do prior to the waxing service to
lessen the pain of the waxing itself. 1. Make sure you're hairy enough
2. Moisturize and exfoliate up to the day of service and then do not day
of the service. 3. If you have a low pain threshold to waxing, take a
painkiller. 4. This next one is difficult but try to avoid caffeine a
few hours before the wax service. 5. Apply a numbing cream.
How long does a wax treatment last? After
a client's waxing, the results can last 3 to 6 weeks depend on the
individual's hair re-growth rate. In most cases, hair growth is minimal
during the first week or two and noticeably increases in the third and
fourth week. Over time the hair will come in thinner and softer in the
areas that get waxed.
